Simoney badges are renown for their plastic badges, and over the years thousands of companies have been satisfied with the badges they have bought from the company
Plastic name badges are worn mostly by company employees. Their name badges are given to them by the company. The badges are worn by employees in order to have themselves easily recognised. This performs two main purposes as firstly it encourages employees to act in a responsible way to customers and secondly it helps customers create a relationship with the employee. Breaking down barriers by giving access to a name is remarkably simple way to improve customer relations, and of course when staff and customers are communicating then it is more likely that improved sales will result. Most companies quickly find that the fairly minor expense of plastic badges purchases results in a fast return on investment.
Plastic name badges can be eye-catching, although the average plastic badge is a small area it is important to convey several things in the space available. Firstly it must perform its main function of communicating the name and position of the employee as clearly as possible and secondly the position of responsibility of the employee, and lastly the name of the company. If the company is well known, then this is often simply a logo, if not or if the context that the employee does not make the name of the employer obvious, then it is the company name that is displayed.
Some companies find a fourth dimension to their company badges. Mcdonalds the fast food outlet is known for its star system. They add stars underneath the employees name to denote the skills acquired by the employee. The stars on name badges indicate that a level of proficiency has been attained in the following areas – Quality, Service, Cleanliness and Operational Excellence. Four stars denote an employee who is trained to work in all areas of the restaurant. A cheap way to encourage higher standards in their workforce.
However it can also be used to comic effect. Read this comment on the MacDonald website
“How come when I’m at my local McDonald’s, in Ireland, the obviously foreign workers (ie from Asia or eastern Europe) wear name tags saying Aileen, or Clare and the obviously Irish people have names like Xin Cho or Krzysztof? Do staff not get their own name badges? Is it a case that at the start of day, they grab a name from a box?!”
The McDonald’s plastic name badges and promotional badges are so much a part of western culture that there are even collectors or McDonald’s badge and paraphernalia. A brief search found 14 websites dedicated to them and literally thousands of badges from the company on sale on the eBay website. Plastic badges are tough and durable. This means that even if they are subjected to lots of wear and tear, plastic badges are sure to endure. As well as being tough, they are light which prevents pulling on lightweight clothing. It requires a good manufacturing process to produce plastic badges that are lightweight, durable and low priced, and Simoney badges have perfected the process. During their many years of manufacturing badges in the UK, they have experimented with many ways of producing their trademark plastic badge. Having discarded many alternate methods, today they achieved their objective.
